Would you like to learn more about traditional Italian and Sardinian cooking and food? In the Mediterranean Sea, there is an island paradise rumored to have a different kind of "air" that grant longevity into the people who live there - Sardinia, an autonomous region of Italy, where scientists have been trying for years to discover the secrets of why these men and women live such long lives. With a population of 1.6 million, Sardinia has confirmed to have the world's highest documented percentage of people who have passed the century threshold, according to the Guardian newspaper of the UK. Why not schedule your next vacation in Sardinia? From late October, for example, besides our Italian classes, you will also spend a morning harvesting olives, then head over to a cold press olive oil mill and make our own Extra Virgin Sardinian Olive Oil. You will pick the olives. You will experience the olive mill, making oil from YOUR olives. You will bring home the olive you made! Ou will attend hands on Mediterranean cooking classes and learn the secrets of an ancient Mediterranean cooking which is not only healthy but also one of the most delicious in the world. You will learn about a cookery method which is very simple and based on extra virgin olive oil and has always been handed down by Southern Italian Women for centuries (Italian men rarely cook! ).

In the morning you will study Italian and in the afternoon you will taste excellent wines, extra virgin olive oils and meet producers. You will visit beautiful places and enjoy the sunny weather and unique quality of life. You will see and do things that only locals know.

It was the best Italian language school that we have ever attended in Italy. The organizers of the school were very sympathetic to our desire and organized a number of activities outside of the classes: took us to the beaches, took us to Cagliari, olive picking, visiting a cantine (wine celler), olive factory (frantoio), cheese factory (caseificio), mirto (myrtle) factory, making Sardinian pasta (Culurgiones, Malloreddus, and Lorighittus). There were many opportunities that we were able to interact with the local people outside the classes (making pasta, having dinners and lunches together, mushroom picking). The teacher was very competent and was patient enough so that we were able to learn in our desired pace of learning. Olia Speciosa (Castiadas) is a lovely and quite village where there is a lot of nature. It is also close enough to Cagliari. We learned a lot during our stay and above all it was fun.

イタリアでいくつか語学学校に行きましたが、その中で一番のお勧めの学校です。あらかじめ、こんな事を勉強したい、料理も習いたい、オリーブ畑も見たい等、リクエストを出だしましたら、それ以上の課外アクティビティを組 んで下さいました。ここの学校は、先生宅で語学を学ぶという形を取ってますが、私達の時は先生が離れた町に住んでいたので、校長先生宅で、レッスンを受け ました。教え方がとても丁寧で、分からない単語は例を挙げて説明してくださったり、語学が上達したという実感がありました。休憩の時はMokkaという、イタリア独特のコーヒーメーカーで作るエスプレッソを飲んだり、日本では見たこともない野菜の頂き方を教わったり、語学のレッスン以外の事も沢山学びました。サルディニアの手作りパスタ（Culurgiones） を習ったり、先生や校長先生、親戚の方と一緒に夕食を頂いたり、本当に暮らすように生活をし、イタリアの良さを満喫しました。カリアリーという町や、海岸 にも連れて行って下さり、オリーブ摘み、オリーブ油精製の小さな工場、チーズ工場（小さな所）の見学、ワインセラーでの試飲等、盛り沢山で、大変多くの事を学ぶ事ができました。町から離れた、静かな所ですが、夏は海水浴のメッカで賑わうそうです。空は抜けるように青く、オリーブ畑が広がり、何処の庭にも、オレンジ、レモンの木があり、美味しそうな実が沢山成り、日本にはない風景が印象的でした。
